2013 CB/S Brandon Harris (5’10, 175, 4.5/40) of King HS in Tampa, FL doesn’t claim any verbal offers, but said he frequently hears from “NC State, Miami is sending me mail, South Alabama, FAU, FIU, Ball St., Arkansas-Pine Bluff and South Dakota St.“
In 2011, he recorded 48 tackles, three INTs, and defended two passes.
King HS will compete in a 7-on-7 tournament later this month. “It’ll be a good team builder and we’re going to work hard the rest of July and August, concentrate on getting bigger, stronger, and faster. This is our senior season, we have to make it special and get that ring.”
Harris has a list of favorites in mind. “Miami is my favorite, but my other top schools are South Alabama, Alabama St., Ball St., FAU and FIU.”
King’s talented safety explained what he likes about his top schools. “At UM, I like the coaching staff and they have my major, pharmacy. I’ve spoken to the coaches there a couple of times and I felt comfortable with them,” he said. “When I camped there June 9th, I was watching Coach (Al) Golden and his staff coach the players. They work hard and create a good environment. I really liked that.
“Ball St. is recruiting me heavily, so I’m interested in them.”
He talked about what he sees in Florida International and Florida Atlantic. “I think both programs are up and coming, and I like that. I could see myself playing for FIU or FAU.“
Harris added “South Alabama is recruiting me the hardest right now, with Ball St. second.” Arkansas-Pine Bluff and South Dakota St. have recently expressed interest in him.
He described how important the relationships will be with his future coaching staff. “I think it’s important to have that connection with my coaches. Plus, in order to be a winning program, there has to be a dependable, knowledgeable staff.”
A school’s location won’t be factored into his recruitment. “It isn’t important to me. I just want to get a good education and have a chance to play college football, but I don’t want to go too far away from home.”
Harris also competes in track. He runs the 4×4 relay and the 400M. He’s also thinking about playing baseball and tennis this year.
On narrowing down his list of choices, he said “I’ll narrow my list down in January and I’ll make a final decision closer to signing day.”
