– 2014 QB Hunter Boyett (6’2, 195) of Westminster Christian in Florida is reporting new interest from Purdue, Louisville, Cincinnati, Akron, Kansas St., Maryland, and Auburn. He broke his collarbone earlier in the year but expects to be back under center Nov. 2. Miami, Mississippi St., and Tennessee have also expressed interest, with Boyett having already visited the Hurricanes, Bulldogs, and Volunteers.
Despite the mid-season injury, Boyett is still commanding interest from around the country, which is indicative of the young signal-caller’s ability. He’s athletic, throws well on the run, has good accuracy for a high school quarterback, and has good touch on intermediate and short routes. He was named the #18 player in Miami-Dade in 2014 by the Miami Herald. He’s currently uncommitted, but he won’t be for long.
– 2013 CB Troy McCollum (6’1, 170, 4.4) of North Miami HS is currently verbally committed to FIU. However, McCollum has informed Deep South Recruiting that official visits are in the works for Indiana and Utah St. He holds 17 offers from programs around the country and sounds like his recruitment might not be over.
– 2014 RB Cam Singletary (5’7, 180, 4.6) of Bishop Kenny HS in Jacksonville, FL recently visited Vanderbilt. He gave Deep South Recruiting the scoop on his visit to Nashville. “Great campus and atmosphere, the Commodores came out of nowhere,” he said. “When I went on my unofficial I was very impressed by the vibe I got from the coaching staff, it seemed like they’re becoming a family of football players more than just a team.”
Singletary’s first impression of Vanderbilt will be difficult to match. “I actually met Mrs. Franklin just walking around campus, with a big smile on my face, and Mrs. Franklin told me she wished me the best of luck,” he said. “I had a chance to exchange words with Coach Franklin right before the game. He’s a great coach who knows how to keep the players motivated and trying to prove everyone wrong.”
Bishop Kenny’s talented running back liked Vandy, but said he’s still open to all opportunities. “I don’t have a number one because I have yet to receive any offers, but that could change. Vandy is in my Top 3, for sure.”
