2014 LB Jaboree Williams, Ft. Lauderdale HS, Florida

2014 MLB Jaboree Williams (6’1, 215, 4.67, 4.4 shuttle) of Ft. Lauderdale HS in Florida recorded 105 tackles, nine sacks, nine pass deflections, and five interceptions with two returned for touchdowns last season. He has an impressive list of programs in hot pursuit of his signature next February. “I’m hearing from Florida, Florida St., Miami, UCF, FIU, FAU, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, New Mexico, Ohio, Louisville, and Pittsburgh.”

Williams told Deep South Recruiting he doesn’t have any offers, but that three programs stand out to him currently. “I’d say Florida, UCF, and Vandy are recruiting me the hardest,” he said. “I talk with UF Linebacker Coach DJ Durkin, he does a good job of staying in touch. UCF Special Teams and Tight Ends Coach Mike Buscemi, we talk almost every other day and Defensive Coach Charles Walker at Vanderbilt stays in close contact, too.”

Boasting a 3.0 GPA, Williams discussed his offseason plans. “I’ll be attending UCF’s Junior Day and their camp during the summer and I’ll camp at Miami and Florida. I’ll attend the NFTC in Orlando and Miami, and I want to get up to Nashville and visit a spring practice at Vandy.”

Ft. Lauderdale’s talented linebacker will consider several factors when making his college choice. “I’m looking for a great academic institution and a program where I feel at home. Being comfortable and playing closer to home is important to me. I’d like to contribute early, but I’d be willing to redshirt.”

Williams is a physical presence in the middle. He can play sideline-to-sideline, he diagnoses plays very quickly and disrupts in the backfield often. He takes on and sheds bigger blockers well for a player his size, gets through the clutter and makes plays in traffic. He has a nose for the ball and is a sure tackler. He has a big frame and will be able to pack on some good weight on the next level. Williams feels his strengths are “being a physical, clutch player. I make plays in coverage, covering backs, ends, and slot receivers, and I’m a good tackler.”

Ft. Lauderdale Head Coach Richard Dunbar described what kind of player Williams is. “He’s a leader, a hard-nosed, tireless worker. Our other players follow and look up to him. He fights through adversity, a no-excuses player, and he just gets the job done.”

  1. He got offered from Holy Cross in Massachusetts so not only is he getting big time football schools after him, he’s also getting big time academic schools after him.
