2013 CB Troy McCollum (6’1, 170, 4.4) just informed Deep South Recruiting that he verbally committed to Florida International. He holds 18 offers, including USF, UCF, Ole Miss, and Illinois.
McCollum explained why he chose FIU. “I chose FIU because of the family atmosphere, the great facilities, the up and coming program, and because the coaches are great to be around,” he said. “The academics were a factor also.”
North Miami’s star corner has a great relationship with the FIU staff. “We communicate on almost a daily basis and we have a great bond.”
McCollum feels head coach Mario Cristobal and the Golden Panther staff will continue to improve the program’s national image. “With the recruiting he has done and the talent on the team, the coaching staff he has, I believe he can take the team far.”
McCollum did state that he still plans on taking his five official visits to be sure he made the right choice.
