2014 C A’lique Terry Recaps Deep South Visits, Hialeah HS

2014 C A’lique Terry (6’2, 280) of Hialeah HS in Florida just got back from touring several ACC and SEC programs. Terry recapped his trip for Deep South Recruiting.

His first stop was Athens, Georgia. “I competed at Georgia’s camp, Dawg Night. There weren’t many players there, it seemed like the better players were there, and the competition was level was good,” he said. “I started off a little slow, going against the faster guys, but I got the hang of it and started dominating in drills.”

The Bulldog coaching staff took notice of Terry. “I talked to the OL coach, Will Friend. He told me he really liked what I was doing.”

Terry said he left Athens with a good impression of Georgia. “I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the coaching staff. Everybody was friendly and they made it seem like a family environment. I will definitely consider Georgia if they recruit me.”

His next stop was on the Plains, at Auburn. “I think Auburn was my favorite stop. I didn’t think I would come out loving it the way I did. I think it was my best camp performance overall.

“I only lost a single one-on-one drill to a player that had an offer from there, but I finished the play and the coach told me he thought I won that particular play,” Terry said. “I ended up in a group of the camp’s top 5 linemen and I performed really well in that group.”

Hialeah’s talented center said the Auburn staff had very encouraging words for him. “The coaches told me they thought I could be a big name in next season’s class. Their advice was keep working and training hard.”

His favorite part of the trip was getting to see his former high school teammate and current Auburn Tiger, Corey Lemonier. “I got a chance to chill with him and he showed me his championship rings. He has three rings: an SEC Championship, National Championship, and BCS rings.”

Terry’s first visit to Auburn left an impression on him. “If I had a list of offers, Auburn would be at the top right now.”

He left the state of Alabama to get a closer look at South Carolina’s program. “I performed well at their camp in drills and felt like I bonded with OL coach Shawn Elliott.”

The Gamecocks want to see more of Terry. “Coach Elliott asked me before I left to send him my film and stay in touch.”

Terry left Columbia to camp at Florida St. and reported to Deep South Recruiting he’s forming a good relationship with the Seminole’s staff. “OL coach Rick Trickett is fun to be around. He makes you work hard, but at the same time he makes things fun,” he said. “I’ve been developing a relationship with Coach Eddie Gran and hopefully I’ll have an offer from FSU this time next year.”

Terry said he’ll consider attending FSU. “I like the Seminoles, and with all these good running backs going there next year, I wouldn’t mind getting a chance to block for them.”

He stated that there’s one more camp left on his schedule. “I’m planning on going to Will Muschamp’s camp at Florida,” he said. ”After that, we’ll finish conditioning and get ready to put the pads on and start preparing for the season.”

Even after a memorable trip, Terry said he has no official favorites and he’s keeping his options open. “No Top 5′s or anything like that. I’m just trying to take care of business now.”

Terry said he learned a valuable lesson while on his tour across the Deep South. “There’s good competition all across America and I have to compete hard. When I get to that level, everybody will be as good as me, so I can’t take plays off. It’s very competitive.”
